Southern Interior Make-up Brevets Weekend It's time once again to think about the Southern Interior Make Up rides weekend, if you missed a distance or just want to do a different route. This year features some new and some old routes. The 200 is brand new because I did not want to duplicate the Sept. 20 Kamloops Six Pack ride. It has a couple of gravel sections (4 km and 6.4 km) and has mostly information controls, although there are convenience stores en route. The 300 will be the same route as last year, with a 6.4 km section of gravel road (the same 6.4 as in the 200 only reversed) . Unfortunately there is a short section of road construction from the Salmon River bridge to Salmon Arm, but t'is the season. The 400 uses Hwy 1 almost to Kamloops, then Hwy 97 through Falkland and backroads to Enderby before going to Revelstoke and back on 97A and Highway 1. The 600 goes to Kamloops, then, missing the big climb by using Campbell Creek Rd., goes to Lower Nicola, then Princeton and Ok Falls, returning via Westside Road and Armstrong area backroads. Westside Road is hilly and narrow, but it misses the gauntlet of traffic and road construction that is Kelowna. Campbell Creek Road has a 12 km section of gravel that always seems shorter. Sleep stops should work out well at Okanagan Falls or Penticton. If all goes according to plan I will pre ride the 600 route on July 13/14. The 400 and 600 will start at 05:00 in an effort to beat some of the heat, the 300 will start at 06:00 and the 200 will start at 07:00. If you have any questions please contact me and I will be happy to answer them. If you think you might be doing one of these rides please register on Randopony or let me know by phone or email. Available accommodations are the same as last year: There are also lots of motels in Chase (20 km west) or Salmon Arm (30-35 km east), or you are welcome to camp in my yard.
