Interior 200 Pre-ride and Info.
by Bob Goodison

For 2012 Southern Interior 200 km Brevet "Tour De Milles", April 21, 7 am start
--> Route
(& pre-registration)

I did the pre ride for the SI Spring 200 km "Tour De Milles" on Saturday April 7. I have made a few minor changes to the route sheet as posted,so don't print the one off the schedule page. The changes are mostly minor distance adjustments and clarifications. Two of the information controls will now be staffed controls. Powerhouse Road is no longer used, to eliminate two left turns across busy Highway 97A. Other than a chilly start the weather was beautiful, with Mara Lake being so calm you could watch the ripples from tiny little fish jumping. The roads are in pretty good spring condition, although they have not yet swept the shoulder between Swansea Point and Grindrod. Hopefully they will do it before the 21st. Good snacks are available at De Milles Mara Foodliner (Control 2), Little Kingdom Store (Control 4) and DeMilles Salmon Arm (Finish). Note that the Salmon Valley Junction Store is closed, and much missed by local cyclists. There will be a staffed control there with water and snacks. The Salmon Arm store at the start does not open until 08:00, but toilets will be open, and water available. It is a fun, low traffic and scenic route. Pre Registration is appreciated and is open on Randopony. Start is at 07:00, pre ride briefing at 06:50. No late starts, as the organizer needs to leave to get to controls in time. Here is a link to some photos I took on the ride.

Thanks, Bob
