Cariboo Clockwise 1200

An Alternative Route for the 2012 BC Randonneurs 1200

This is basically a reworking of the CCC 1000 (Stephen Hinde's route) with an out and back to Jasper – never a bad location! I played with the direction (clockwise or not) and a couple of starting points to come up with the best arrangement for these map points (in my opinion). Potential Controls are as follows (daily breakdown for normal riders):

Day 1:
0 km, Prince George (lots of overnight / eating possibilities, airport etc.)
212 km, McBride (get the empty stretch over with right away)
292 km, Mt Robson (only the fast riders would get there to eat in the restaurant)
378 km, Jasper (control logistics are well known, motels available)

Day 2:
86 km, Mt Robson
212 km, Blue River (could stop in Valemount, but that seems too soon)
317 km, Clearwater (optional, really as far as the route goes)
348 km, Little Fort (at least two motels in town)

Day 3:
129 km, 70 Mile House (after BIG climb out of Little Fort)
170 km, 100 Miles House (a bit soon, but there are other towns along this stretch, not sure which would by best for a control)
262 km, Williams Lake (plenty of services, etc.)

Day 4:
116 km, Quesnel (an alternate 3rd night location?)
248 km, Prince George
