Message from Patrick: I'd like to propose adding a Traces Pacifique event to the Fleche Pacifique weekend. There is a Traces Velocio event in France on the same weekend as the Fleche Velocio with the same finish location. The Traces event mostly eiminates night riding and covers a shorter distance, 201km min, 360km max. The start time is fixed, 6.00 am Saturday and the course is neutralised from 10.00pm - 6.00 am. (Which I take to mean that you can't ride after 10.00pm) So essentialy it's a fleche style event with minimal or no night riding. There are a couple of reasons that I can think of that this might get a few more riders out. There are some long time riders in the club who haven't ridden a fleche since the 'no more than 2 hours in one location' rule came into effect and there are other riders who simply don't like to ride all night without a sleep break. I do wonder whether this might dilute the Fleche and reduce the number of teams riding all night, or whether there is a large enough pool of other riders to draw on to make this an event in it's own right and expand the number of riders at the banquet on Sunday morning. I've attached a copy of the rules from France.

See you all on Skype tonight.
Patrick.
