Columbia Icefields Parkway - Roger Holt

Scenery

Canada’s mountain national parks are renowned for their beauty. You will pass by Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies as you climb over the Yellowhead Pass. You will then descend to the ski resort of Jasper and turn onto the Columbia Icefields parkway, passing by waterfalls and cascades on route to the Columbia Icefields, a vast sea of glacial ice at the top of Sunwapta Pass. There is a thrilling descent to the North Saskatchewan River, followed by a climb over Bow Summit to the aquamarine waters of the Bow River. Your journey will continue along the Kicking Horse, Columbia and Illecillewaet Rivers as you pass through the Rocky Mountains, the Columbia Mountains and the Monashee Mountains, finally arriving in Revelstoke. Wildlife abounds in the national parks; elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, bears, coyotes and timber wolves have been seen by riders.
