![]() Lumpy Permanent... Fat Bike Stupid? Yes. Slow? Definitely. Fun? Absolutely! At 12:03 it was my slowest 200 km ever. Paxton Valley was very muddy. They were just finishing grading Loakin- Bear Creek- very soft gravel. Fat bike was wonderful on the gravel, tedious and exhausting on the pavement. Lots of bear shit, no bears, but I did cause multiple cattle stampedes. I managed to reset my Garmin at Dallas Petro Can and lost the first 123 km of my ride so I guess it didn't happen, but my legs tell me it did. My slowness did cause me to miss a major thunderstorm that came through Sorrento just before I finished. Lessons learned: 1- If you expect a 200 to take as long as a 300, take food for a 300 (I bonked). 2- If the stars align for me to ride the BC Epic 1000 next year, my fat bike is up to the task. It is easy to ride once you find the right place, exhausting if you exceed that. Thanks, Bob ![]() ![]()
