Northern Waters 200
by Bob Koen

The ride was good. There were several positive comments about the route. But the weather could have been better. Some of the new riders were caught out by the cold and rain and some turned back.

The ride started dry with a reasonable weather forecast. But as the riders headed east the clouds got darker and rain started by the time they reached Stave Lake. It was also cold. I heard reports of 7 degrees near Stave Lake at the high point of the route. The control that I manned at Cascade Falls maintained a steady 9 degrees in misty rain.

The weather dried out as the riders headed to the south side of the Fraser River. A nice tailwind helped push the riders back to the finish.
