IsleLander and Flatlander Rider Survey Results
by Presented by Susan Allen

Fall Islander Survey Response (7 responders)

Ride generally highly rated. This ride was well run and very well appreciated.

What they liked/loved:

     • Organizer Efforts: enthusiastic, supportive, bananas, friendliness
     • Weather: sunshine
     • Other riders: seeing people, friendliness, company
     • Scenery: beautiful route
     • one rider didn't want to stop

Major discussions for improvements concerned the Route
     • liked: Maddox rather than Gorge, the scenery
     • would have liked: route posted on web, a landmark to help with a turn without a sign
     • didn't like: very complicated route, too many turns, too many peds through downtown (pre-ride), hard to find water at some of the controls
     • one rider is worried that the number of turns and climbing make this a difficult first time route

Summary: Organizers did a great job with this one. Hard to balance all concerns with a route.

Fall Flatlander Survey Response (19 responders)

Ride generally highly rated. This ride was well run on a very popular route.

What they liked/loved:

     • Organizers/Volunteers: accurate route sheet, supported controls, happy faces at controls, bananas at Birchwood, no pampering at controls, great volunteers
     • Route: new Thompson park control, fast flat course with good timing in the year, few hills, pavement quality, low traffic, interesting terrain, new terrain in east for at least one rider, high speed descent and then flat at the end, fast ride, great route, easy to follow, fast course, stayed away from traffic areas, availability of food on route for those who wanted to stop, pub finish
     • Other riders: great people to ride with, company, riding with friends, ride with diverse group, socializing in the pub and during the ride,
     • Weather: on pre-ride!

What they didn't like:
     • distance to drive to start (3)
     • the rain (many) & wet feet • the company (1)
     • trying to keep up (only joking) (1)
     • no food at controls (1)
     • too many staffed controls (1)
     • pot holes (but still like the route) (1)

Things to Discuss for Improvement:
     • two mentioned they don't like Sunday brevets
     • there was no official start and thus no big group going off together. Though many managed to
group up, at least one rider ended up alone and felt the lack of social interaction and that we just assumed that everyone knew each other. This rider is particularly worried if this happened to a new rider it would be unfortunate.

Summary: "Hearty congratulations to Keith Fletcher for another well run event and assembling a great crew of volunteers."
