Richard reported in after the Kamloops/Interior 400 on Saturday (May 28). It was another casual e mail message to a few of us coasties. [EF]

Interior - Kamloops 400
by Richard Blair

Hello: The Interior 400k was ridden on Saturday May 28/05. It was hot. It was hotter than hot. It was awfully hot. There was not a cloud in the sky, only a blisteringly intense sun which hung out for far too many hours. Randy Benz's thermometer read 37+ degrees Celsius at one point and the suspicion is that it was warmer than that on occasion, particularly on the agonizing grind out of Cherryville. The route was Kamloops east to Vernon and then on to Cherryville where the 10 riders turned and headed west to Kamloops via Vernon and Salmon Arm. Out of the 10, seven finished in the following times:

Randy Benz and Peter Mair finished in 17 hours and 20 minutes, Bob Boonstra in 18 hours and 45 minutes; Bud MacRae in 21 hours and 10 minutes, Larry Voth and Grant McLeod finished together in 21 hours and 10 minutes, followed by Narayan Krishnamoorthy, in his first 400 ride, who completed in 24 hours and 35 minutes.

The DNF's were Robert Bernhardt who bailed at 223k in Vernon, your scribe Richard Blair who balked and bonked at 230km just north of Vernon, and Bob Goodison whom I am told called it a ride about Enderby, after some 263km.
