Accommodation Information for the Start / Finish: Victoria

The official lodging is at the Comfort Hotel and Conference Centre on the corner of Finlayson and Blanshard Streets in Victoria. It is about 1-2 km to the start of the VanIsle 1200 which will be at a 24 hour Tim Horton's (3501 Ravine Way) at the Saanich Shopping Plaza (Directions). There is a bicycle lane on Blanshard Street to/from the Saanich Shopping Plaza.

If you need to store items in Victoria while you are out on the ride please note:

• I have had a few inquiries from participants about storing their gear while they are out cycling 1200 km.  To keep costs down we have made no arrangements for gear storage.  I recommend you put a request out on the accommodation thread of the BC Randonneurs forum complete with your contact information.  I have put out a request to local Victoria Cyclists who have someplace to store a gym bag, bob trailer or park a car to peruse the page as well and offer you assistance.  To avoid being overwhelmed I am going to ask you make arrangements through the accommodation thread of the BC Randonneurs forum .
• Withiin an hour of sending out the email I had multiple offers of support.
• Your hotel in Victoria may provide storage if your have booked rooms at the start and finish.  Please confirm with the hotel.

A google maps search for  hotels near Vernon Ave, Victoria, BC  will give you some other options.  When the map comes up you will also see the Saanich Plaza.  This is where the ride starts.

Accommodation Along the Route:

There will be 4 staffed controls, but no food or rooms for sleeping. Drop bags will be transported to-from Campbell River and can be accessed at approx. 290k; 470k & 950k. Manned control at Gold River (380k) about 100k each way, west of Campbell River (out and back); Rooms at the control motel can be booked by those riders who want one - Gold River Chalet. The other manned control is at Woss (Rugged Mountain Motel & convenience store - about 605k; and on the return about 817k) riders can book rooms themselves. Most convenience stores and cafes north and west of Campbell River close between 8-10 pm. The Port Hardy Inn is almost across the street from the 24 hour convenience store-gas station we use in Port Hardy. About 709k. There is a staffed control at Port McNeill on the return from Port Hardy. Riders can book their own rooms. From Victoria to Campbell River is tourist heaven. So lots of local and tourist traffic. All motels need to be booked early as it is the height of tourist season.

13 One queen bed rooms.
6 One queen bed rooms with optional kitchens.
12 Two double bed rooms.
2 Two double bed with optional kitchens.
1 `family room`with 2 queen sized beds,a pullout couch and more floor space.(sleeps 6)


The prices for the rooms are as follows:Tax not included.
All rooms include breakfast vouchers for Ricky's Restaurant or McDonalds.
Single 1 person 1 bed $89.00/per night.
Double 2 people 1 bed $94.00/per night.
Twin 2 people 2 beds $99.00/per night.
Children under 12 no additional charge.
Additional persons charge $10/per night.
Kitchen $10.00/night.
Pets $5.00/per night.
Group Rate $5.00/per room per night with a booking of 5 or more rooms.
Senior Rate 60+ $5.00 off regular rate.
The BCAA/AAA is available with their BCAA/AAA card present upon check in.
The age for the senior discount is 60 years or older.
All discounts are noncumulative .


All Rooms booked in advance require a major credit card to hold room (Visa,MasterCard,American Express)
Persons paying for room with cash or debit will require a $100.00 refundable damage deposit per room.
This also includes Visa/MasterCard debit cards (Ie: TD Visa) or Prepaid Visa or MasterCard
